Last-Minute Sports Travel Trip: Be at the Italian Grand Prix on Sunday!

Nothing much planned this weekend? Let's change that. Why not attend the fastest circuit on the Formula One calendar and be at the Italian Grand Prix at Monza on Sunday? It is still possible, albeit, there are a very few limited tickets left so it'll sell-out quickly.

The Italian Grand Prix is one of those stand-out sporting events to tick off your bucket list. With the Tifosi out in full force, Monza has been on the F1 calendar ever since the World Championship began. It's also the fastest circuit on the F1 calendar and generates a huge amount of interest.

For Italians, it's a weekend of national pride and a sea of red takes over the circuit as Ferrari fans cheer on their team and drivers.

It's also the last European race of the season as F1 moves onto Baku and Singapore before travelling to the USA, Mexico, Brazil back to the USA before then culminating in the Middle East with Qatar and Abu Dhabi closing out the 2024 season.

F1 tickets are in high demand these days. What with the recent rise in the sports popularity, thanks to shows such as Drive to Survive on Netflix, but you can still pick up last-minute tickets to some of the most iconic races.

Although there's no denying it is always a little better to book in advance to get the best deals, you can read how I got my Monaco Grand Prix ticket for £39 here.

But if it is a spur-of-the-moment type of mood you are in and you suddenly fancy getting to the Italian Grand Prix this weekend, then you best get ready to sprint off the line in the same way Max Verstappen did at the Dutch grand Prix last weekend.

Here's what you need to do.

You can pick up a ticket for Sunday's Italian grand Prix for £344 here. You'll get an allocated seat in the grandstand that overlooks the famous Parabolica corner, which comes at the end of the back straight at Monza. It's a perfect view to witness the action and for a (very) last-minute ticket, you can't ask for more than that.

Sunday's race begins at 3pm local time, and as luck would have it you can get a flight to Milan's Linate Airport from London's Gatwick Airport which leaves at 7am arriving at Linate at 10am local time.

Milan's Linate Airport is actually the perfect arrival airport as from Linate Airport, it's only a 32-minute drive, so perfect for jumping into a taxi, to the circuit at Monza.

You'll obviously be travelling light, so no need to be checking bags in (that'll probably cost more than the race ticket anyway) so once you've landed, I'm thinking you could be out of the airport and in a taxi within 30 minutes. Let's say an hour maximum incase you encounter queue's at immigration.

By my estimations that gets you to the circuit no later than 11.30am, giving you plenty of time to soak up the atmosphere before lights out!

After the race, you can get the train back into Milan and enjoy all the culinary and culture delights Milan has to offer for the evening, before returning home on Monday... there are early flights back to London on Monday morning so with a bit of luck you could be home in time to make it into the office.

And when your colleague asks how your weekend was, you'll have a smile on your face because you have just ticked off the Italian Grand Prix.
